Success Story / Testimonial Martyn Finny

March 5, 2023

Martyn Finny was an extremely active individual who has travelled and trekked in many remote environments. Martyn was originally in the Parachute regiment as a young man where his fitness and exploration started. Post leaving the military Martyn has under took many different activities all over the world with some extreme experiences. Martyn had to have knee surgery due to his exploits and resulted in a Total Knee Replacement – This should have allowed him to continue but it did not!

Martyn’s work takes him all over the world and travel and working on location resulted in less than favourable rehabilitation for his knee and it did not as he put it “work as well as advertised”. He had pain with short distances of movement and even riding a bike with his daughter was difficult. I started working with him to increase his Range of Movement which was limited, this common with knee replacements with limited rehabilitation. Martyn is in his late forties so very keen to get back to a active lifestyle particularly skiing and snowboarding.

Martyn spends lots of time working at a Laptop in his home office when not on location, this is at the bottom of his garden. Even walking the short distance to up the garden and through the house to answer the front door resulted in knee pain. This was in part due to sitting for long periods and the hamstrings (muscle at back of leg) getting tight and overworking. This is common for home workers as they focus more intensely and have less distractions but the negative is less mental and physical breaks.

Martyn fully committed to his pain and rehabilitation package which was particularly challenging as the goals Martyn wanted to hit were not a normal focus. The treatment was intense and the active movements hard but the results were significant. Martyn was able to cycle for extended periods of time walk long distances pain free and run all of which he was unable to do pre treatment package.  I am now working with Martyn to look at improving his shoulder movement to aid in swimming.

I have a Facebook group Knee Pain Masterclass which showcases FB Lives and support video with essential information to help treat and cure Knee Pain and recover from a Knee Replacement.
